It's time to travel home!!!!

overcast 50 °F

I slept surprisingly well last night and thank goodness I had earplugs, but the other person was quite the snorer! I woke up at 7:30 and took a barely warm shower, with flip flops on of course!! The hostel provided "breakfast": coffee, orange juice, and cookies/crackers; breakfast of champions! They also provided a "shuttle" to the airport, which was actually a cab they called, but I didn't have to pay so I can't complain too much. My flight is at 12:20, but I decided to leave at 9:00 a.m. just to be safe since I wasn't sure what leaving would entail. When you leave Costa Rica you must pay a departure tax which is $28.00. Getting through this, checking my luggage, and going through security only took me about 30 minutes total, so although I have been sitting around for a while, I would rather give myself a lot of extra time than to feel rushed or concerned about making it; it's not like I have the best track records with traveling in the recent years. The shops here at the airport are just like everywhere else, overpriced and I refuse to purchase any souvenirs in here. It's now 11:30 and I will be boarding the plane any minute. It's only about an hour flight to San Salvador and I have about an hour layover before boarding for my final destination, San Francisco!!

3:00 p.m.
So far this trip back home has been a bit stressful. We boarded the plane in San Jose about 30 minutes later than expected and after getting ready to take off the captain made an announcement saying that there was a concern with wiring. We headed back to the terminal and didn't take off for another hour, 1:15 p.m. (we were supposed to take off at 12:20). Despite being concerned about my safety I wouldn't have minded the wait so much, but I knew that I only had an hour layover in San Salvador and wasn't sure what the arrival there would be like.
Luckily we reached San Salvador at about 2:30, exactly when the other plane began boarding. My arrival to San Salvador was definitely a lot easier than the departure as I had to wait about 20 minutes to get to the gate where they opened all my possessions, looked through all my books page by page, had dogs checking everyones possessions, and frisked me once again. I am not sure of what people try and smuggle out of San Salvador, but I do know that I haven't even had that sort of search in the states. I don't know if the plane would have waited, nor do I want to think about it anymore, but I boarded the plane and it took off only about 10 minutes later.
Both my flight from and to San Francisco I have lucked out with no one sitting in the middle seat and I am hoping to rest a little if possible. I just asked the lady next to me if she brought a jacket for San Francisco, as she is in capris and a short-sleeve shirt. She answered no, and looked a little puzzled at why I would ask, but I certainly hope that her daughter brings one for her or she is going to freeze (It was warmer in El Salvador than Costa Rica)! I have a thin sweater and another long sleeved shirt for arrival, but I have made sure that my Mom brings a sweatshirt for me because I haven't been in cold weather for 7 weeks!
